Australia must face up to offshore
Australian Prime Minister John Howard told his country’s business community said offshoring has to be accepted as part of the globalised world.
Just as this country wants the advantages of globalisation, so it should be that it must accept that part of the globalised world is a much freer flow of information,” Howard said in Parliament. “The idea that you can have an effective regulatory regime of the type he’s talking about ignores the realities of the modern world.”
His comments came in response to Opposition leader Kim Beazley who had questioned him on the issue of Australian businesses seeking offshore processing of sensitive customer information and reports alleging that these were being sold by the employees.
