Readers of last week's Outsource Monthly email were treated to a unique gift when they opened their mail: a free copy of a report produced by Sourcing Industry Group (SIG) with the support of Jay Lash entitled 'A Business Case for Outsourcing the Management of Your Contingent Workforce'. As I pointed out in my intro to that email, "contingent workforce management (CWM) is very...

As well as having this column here, for the last couple of months I have also been writing a blog on the Sourcing Industry Group (SIG) website (www.sig.org) and I thought it was about time I introduced Outsource readers to that blog - which you can read via this page.

Of course (as even any of you still somehow unfamiliar with SIG would be able to deduce from the name of the organisation) its remit...

Recent stories by, amongst others, the BBC detailing large, well-organised and presumably very profitable scamming organisations targeting UK TalkTalk customers have hardly helped the already-lowly reputation of offshore contact centres - but may unfortunately be only the tip of a perilous iceberg.

Last year TalkTalk was fined a record £400,000 for failings which contributed to the theft of data of belonging to over 156,000 customers....

Little more than a week into his presidency, and Donald Trump has already taken plenty of steps to ensure that anyone hoping or fearing that his more aggressively populist pre-election promises were merely vote-summoning rallying cries that would be forgotten were he to be elected will have their doubts dispelled. Most immediately controversial - thus far - has been his executive order issuing a temporary ban on immigration from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, which...

Regular readers will know that each month I publish a column waxing lyrical about that month’s Outsource Talks webinar (typically a passionate, exuberant piece written from the heart, as I genuinely greatly enjoy hosting these “talkshow”-type events and, along with the audience, tend to learn a great deal from my invariably superlative panellists) and will probably have noticed the absence in November of such a column. Well, those of you who attended that webinar -...

I always love hosting our Outsource Talks webinars – but today’s was even more enjoyable than usual, featuring as it did three remarkable professionals gathered together in the same place, rather than dialling in as is customary. Having Morgan Lewis’ Ed Hansen, Ivalua’s Gary Malhotra and Outsource columnist Thom Mead round a table here at the SIG Summit in California was a unique pleasure, generating as it did a delightful degree of interaction alongside the...

Hard to believe half a year has gone by so quickly, but Outsource finds itself once again at a SIG Summit – taking place this time round in delightful (though, today, surprisingly drizzly) Carlsbad, California. The conference proper kicks off tomorrow (Tuesday), though the thought leadership has already begun to surge forth, not least in this morning’s meeting of the Global Digital Innovation Council (GDIC), a remarkable venture co-promoted by Sourcing Industry Group (SIG) and...

Earlier today, I had the great pleasure of hosting the seventh episode of Outsource Talks, our webinar series – for those of you not yet familiar with this especially marvellous project - that brings the time-honoured talkshow model to the international sourcing, outsourcing and business transformation community.

Rather than focussing on one particular theme, one of the joys of Outsource Talks is that we try to explore a variety of topics on each show and in doing so explore...

Another month, another great Outsource Talks webinar… This week it was my profound pleasure and privilege to welcome Vested’s Kate Vitasek, KPMG’s Don Ryan and ‘Art of Procurement’ host Phil Ideson to the Outsource Talks sofa, where the hour fairly flew by in a wonderful discussion of...
