Outsource 34 – Endgame? (Winter 2013)

Outsource 34 – Endgame? (Winter 2013)

Read the digital edition of the Winter 2013 issue of Outsource here.

Along with pretty much every other aspect of business, the IT outsourcing space is experiencing incredibly rapid evolution at present thanks to the accelerated capability of the technology at its heart – and this evolution creates a number of serious challenges for those involved in the practice. Our cover story this issue features views on those challenges – and how to overcome them – sourced from the Outsource community (that’s you, dear readers…): if you’re in ITO or contemplating outsourcing or transforming the function, you won’t want to miss these pearls of collective wisdom, starting on page 12.

The ITO theme continues elsewhere in the mag, too – firstly within our exclusive and wide-ranging interview with outsourcing legend Richard Jones (page 30); an investigation by Andrea Madden into ITO governance (page 38); and last but definitely not least in the article launching our series OutsourceXplores Post-Human BPO: Automation & Operational Excellence in association with GenFour (see page 90 for more).

However, this issue does of course go much further than ITO itself. We’ve got a comprehensive look at outsourcing in a difficult economic climate courtesy of another sourcing hero, Mark Lewis (page 20); the latest gem from Kate Vitasek looking at moving from price to value (page 72); Stan Lepeak on transition management (page 40); a superb piece on data governance by William Hooper (page 48) and much more.

And, of course, we have our usual contribution from NelsonHall (this issue: innovation) on page 98 and all the fun and scandal of our Back End section (beginning page 102).

All in all, Outsource #34 is the perfect way for anyone in the sourcing business to welcome in the new year – and, on that note, best wishes from all the team for a happy, healthy and extremely successful 2014…
